足利尊氏の軍勢によって京の都を追われた後醍醐天皇は、吉野へと向かう途中に西吉野に立ち寄られました?
そのとき天皇を手厚くもてなしたのが〝堀家〟で、その邸宅は、その後も〝後村上天皇〟・〝長慶天皇〟・〝後亀山天皇〟の「皇居」として南朝の歴史を刻んできました?
この頃の西吉野のあたりは人や物がどんどん集まってきて、とても繁栄していたようです✨
現在、奈良県五條市にある「賀名生（あのう）」という土地は、元は「穴生（あなふ）」という地名でした?
のちの後村上天皇が行宮を〝吉野〟からこの地に移した際に、南朝による統一を願って、地名を「叶名生（かなう）」と改め、さらに1351年（正平6年）、いったん統一が叶うと、字を「賀名生」に改めました?
明治時代になってから、読み方が「かなう」から、原音に近い「あのう」に戻されました?
国指定重要文化財「堀家住宅」賀名生旧皇居は、リノベーションされて2019年4月からレストランとホテル〝KANAU〟として営業しています??
